Re: Own reserves team no mater the cost

My concerns regards a small ground are as follows. One, midfielders need to be able to run because they play on grounds like, the MCG, Subi, AAMI etc. Sandy, in my opinion, isn't good for developing players to learn to run. It's a close physical game, without the run and spread. People complain that...

Re: Own reserves team no mater the cost

Agree. It's a must. Our development of young players is being hindered, not only by not having our own VFL team but playing at Sandy. The ground is too small and not good for developing players. Both Geelong and Collingwood play their home games on far better grounds. Sam Dunell seems to have devel...

Re: Votes vs Geelong

According to the stat's, McEvoy not only had the most hit outs, his hitouts to advantage was the best also. Can I suggest who watch the game. McEvoy was the best ruckmen on the ground. He beat West statistically and physically.

Re: I was wrong about Jack Steven

Jack wasn't great yesterday and yes, his form over the last few weeks has been ordinary. And yes, he has a few things to work on. After watching the third quarter v Melbourne, to say he is the worst player to play for the Saints, is way off the mark for mine. He has power, strength and pace. Isn't t...

If Ledger's tank is a problem, would playing on a tennis court,ie: Sandringham every second week be good for his development? I think not!

Re: Key Backs and Ruckmen - list management

Very good overall analyse. The player I have trouble assessing is Gilbert. I know it was two/ three years ago but in 09 and to a lesser extent 010, I thought is was nearly elite in the way he played. In one of the best games, I have seen, the 09 clash v Geelong, Gilbert was outstanding. I think Sam ...

Re: Big Boy McEvoy

I'm a little confused but I think we might be in agreement. My point is, to look at just tap outs eg, Hille 34, McEvoy 22, etc . Is too simplistic. Watch the game, see the trends etc. use stat's as an aide, guide and then make up your own mind. If stat's are the sole bases of your opinion then I'd a...

Re: Big Boy McEvoy

And Freo's mids would disagree. Sandilands is the most dominate tap ruckmen in the league but Freo don't dominate the clearances. It's not black or white. Can I give the anology, the players who gets the most disposals in a game is not necessarily the most effective or best player. Sometimes they ar...

Re: Big Boy McEvoy

Just a thifferent point of view to think about. Visually, without stat's, Ben looks to have improved his ruckwork this year. One of the reasons, I believe the stat's show a heavy leaning to the opposition, is when Ben is not in the ruck. Kossie, whilst trying very hard, has no idea in the ruckwork d...

Re: 2008 AFL Draft

A little harsh and still too early to judge 2008. If I have my facts right we picked up Ray , who has given solid service. A potential ruck/ forward with enormous upside at pick 47. A potential key back in Simpkin as a rookie. We also picked up another key back in Dawson. I wouldn't think it's the r...
