Re: Ross 2.0, Harves, Goddard, Lenny Hayes

It's as obvious as Joe Biden's dementia that Robert Harvey is ill-suited to the role of forward-line coach. Goddard is ssaddled with a workmanlike group of midfiled players so the jury's out. A seeming lack od development under Lenny is a concern. But six losses under 10 points ... if King was hitti...

Re: On The Couch tonight is a must watch

Garry Lyon's frustration with King was on point. Said we'd been talking about this FOR THREE YEARS. And yeah, we have. Max doesn't lead, gets muscled out of contests, is not fond of second efforts, he twirls the ball before set shots and gets aggro at inapproriate times. All these things are fixable...

Re: Matchday Thread-Saints v Power

Nothing good about rhat game. Port's long-tern dominance over us needed to come to an end. St Kilda needed to win for the supporters. They botched it Some disgraceful perfomances -- a show of disrespect for the jumper and the long-suffering fans. See this is what I don’t fully understand. We just m...

That late hit, resulting in a Port free at crucial moment, was the last straw. Dumb, selfish player.

Re: Anyone have any intel?

Considering our lamentable record of trading out ruckmen -- McEvoy, Hickey, Stanley -- all of whom went on to play in GFs, who would be surprised to learn that the Saints' brains trust hasn't considered the possibility of doing so again?

MIlne never won Goal of the Year. In fact, I don't think he ws ever nominated. These things are heavily compromised and best iognored.

Re: Top 5 pick

In order to snare Brad Hill we gave up Blake Acres and any one of Kysaiah Pickett, Will Day or Cody Weightman (who went at orr around the first round pick we gave away), as well as a future second, fourth, and a trucklooad of cash. Brilliant stuff.

I say we hold on to our top picks at all costs.

Re: If the shoe had been on the other foot

As I predicted, the King free, of all the contentious frees this weekend, has soaked up the bulk of the media's attention. Jon Ralph, who lost all credibility during the Essendope saga and may legitimately claim to be the worst footy pundit in a crowded field, just claimed on TV that the AFL's admis...

Re: Match Thread Saints v Suns

Watching the game live, it's apparent to me that our forwards are now the biggest issue. No leading, leading at the wrong time, leading to the wrong spots, not getting up the ground when required, not working for each other. This is Robert Harvey's domain and I'd have to say he's failing miserably ...

Re: It's time to move Nasiah

The problem is that the delivery into the forward line is below average. Nas delivering into the F50 improves that stat appreciably. "Get the pill to Nas" should replace "Get the pill to HIlly" as our midfield mantra. Hill's delivery is dodgy. Maybe he should play off half-back i...

"Marshall Arts" is a new one, Loris. Is Rowan the instructor? My all-time-favourite from this side remains "a hare's breath away" though.

Re: Still effing pathetic

Cheapshot Cornes says the game was clearly between two bottom-four sides. but "at least the West Coast have Reid". I thought it was a pretty good game and the Saints performed well in the second half against a team that flogged Melbourne over there a couple of weeks ago (and almost overcam...

Re: Let's Talk About the Elephant In the Room

Forward lines often improve when a star full forward is missing -- think Adleiade in the '97 GF. For that matter, when Plugger was with the Saints I think we won more games without him (at least in his final copule of years). But it's a temporary illusion because the opposition just isn't used to th...

Re: Kane Cork Sucker

Methinks King's problems are primarily his own. He gets an awful lot of ball aimed at him. But he doesn't lead well and remains highly unreliable in front of goal (that infernal ball-twirling can't help). A move to CHF, with licence to roam upfield to contest kickouts, can't hurt.

Look at who Essendon has played so far this season and their winning margins (including against us) Yes, they beat GWS but when GWS was in a slump And they drew with Collingwood whose form is equally as problematic as is Essendon’s Then look at their losses, the size of those losses and who the los...

"As far from a flag as anyone in the league"

Cheapshot Cornes and Matthew "Mensa" Lloyd have now got us as far from a flag as any club in the league. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Un1D8GMyLX4 Personally, considering our tough draw, injury list and close losses, I would ahve thought a couple of weeks ago that we could get back into ...

RTB has the runs on the board. Second most successful Saints coach. Most successful ever Freo coach. To ignore these indisputable facts is crazy. You can argue that he hasn't got the same spark this time around or the same intimidation factor. I certainly think the players should be performing bette...

The absolute worst time to be at the bottom of the ladder, GCS have 9 accademy players to pick next season...and that's just the GC, GWS, Sydney, and Brisbane got the same perk. And that's even before Tasmania come in. We don't stand a chance. Don't be a moron and blame the coach....the wrong targe...

A few weeks ago the club released a video highlighting the work of the High Performance Team.

Their role needs a serious assessment because there's no team in the league that looks as flat as we do, especially in first quarters.

Re: Bonner to Hill, Freo goal

Those insisting Hill wasn't at fault -- or at least the junior partner in this stuff-up -- might be right, as it's difficult to know for sure if anyone of Hill#s height could have marked Bonner's kick. Nevertheless, Hill has form in this area -- not straining bhimself if the delivery isn't centimetr...

Bonner to Hill, Freo goal

Seconds after Saints fans experienced a brief moment of satisfaction when Marshall's Herculean effort to touch the ball as it crossed the goal line was rewarded with a cancelled goal, Bonner took the kickout and Hill failed to mark, resulting in an easy Freo goal. I've said previously that both Bonn...
