Re: Season 2020 - a repeat of 2008 - 2010??
I admire the optimism of some supporters but really this thread is... threadbare. Ruckmen aside, there’s simply daylight between the current crop of players and the cream of talent we had prior to those Grand Final appearances. The forward line is a case in point. With the departure of Bruce, we lac...

Re: AFL Fixture
The one consistent part of our fixture (for 2020 & past years) is being scheduled games in that twilight zone space between 3.20 & 4.40 pm & often on Sundays.
Obviously we’re the AFL’s pollyfilla for the more successful teams.

Re: Was this our best win ever?
I have been following the Saints for 60 years since I was 10 y.o. And one of the most memorable for me was back in 1961. We played Richmond on a clear sunny day that was great for scoring and on this day our backline was impassable. We won 12.19 (91) to 0.08 (8) by 83 points. Backline was Walsh, Ho...

Re: Was this our best win ever?
There was a win against North Melbourne at Arden St. in the late 70s, where we were done, and managed a controversial after the siren goal to steal the game. Heart breaking for North fans. One of the very few, if only games I went to at Arden St. It was in that incredible 1978 season. Robert Elliot...

Jack Sinclair’s existing role in the team is in jeopardy. He may need to reinvent himself to remain in the 22.

Regardless of where we are on the ladder, things are rarely dull at St Kilda. No shortage of stories - good, bad and quirky- seem to swirl around.

Re: One View Of Our Trade Haul
McCartin remains the elephant in the room. Even if he still wants to cling to the belief that he can make it, surely his family and friends (& club?) should try to dissuade him. Isn’t there a duty of care issue?

Re: Patience Of A Saint
Agree with Saints6709 that there’s quite a bunch of current players who deserve close scrutiny by list management. They’ve had years to develop and some have even regressed. Gallagher, Lethlean and Co. need to start making the hard calls to flush out the mediocrity. Like Saints6709, I believe that o...

Re: Trade Summary...
It’s all very well to get excited about players wanting to come to Moorabbin BUT seriously we don’t have much to offer for them. We have four picks only and three of them are 57 and above! Hardly enticing. Are we going to once again use up our future draft picks? Seriously, the club should aim for B...

Re: Trade Summary...
Skeptic, if your mail is correct, then this is THE trade we need to secure over all others. Give the Suns our pick 6 and throw in a player if need be but the club desperately needs to be bold. Securing the King twins could be a true turning point in the club’s fortunes. I’m tired of our club playing...

Re: Plenty of changes still to come
I think it’s pretty unlikely we’ll snare Ben King to Moorabbin in the coming trade period. The bigger concern is that the Suns might try to lure Max up north. Let Ben see out his second and final year of his contract (as per his mother’s wishes) and then launch an all-out attack to get Ben to Linton...

Re: What’s the latest on Jack Steven?
Regrettably, the Saints look likely to be the losers in this whole matter. Geelong’s recruiting officer has ruled out Charlie Constable as a swap so we face the very likely and unpalatable reality that the Cats will merely give us their pick 54 for Stuv. This is highway robbery and it seems there’s ...

Why all the vitriol towards D Mac? He’s an accomplished footballer: fearless, good mark, attacking and has the defensive qualities of smothering and tackling. He’s also managed to overcome his concussion battles. As we are aware, his name has recently come up in the media as possible trade bait so h...

Re: Gold coast draft package
It’s obscene giving them (again) priority picks and Darwin as their recruitment zone. It reeks of the AFL desperate to see them justify their expansionist dreams. Level playing field? Sigh.

Hind has been an emergency about 6 times this year so he must be on the brink of selection.
If Paton & Webster are in doubt due to injury, then surely Hind gets his chance.

The exciting part to Josh is that he could become a crucial swing player. He could stay in defence or switch forward if the situation requires it.

If it was an original WEG ‘66 poster and signed by Cowboy and the coach AND framed, then this price would be a bargain. But given you say it is a ‘replica’ (ie. presumably not an original) then the price sounds about right.

Marshall
Honourable mentions for Membrey and Webster
Ross (& Dunstan) accumulate possessions but their disposal by foot repeatedly let’s them down.
