Re: Our midfield/wing options 2020 v 2024
We certainly could have one of the best outside running brigades in the comp, with Wood, Hill, Henry, Byrnes and Wilson all genuine options for the wing, or high half-forward. Then with the likes of Sincs, Wangmil, Windy, Clark and Bonner options off half back. That’s some serious running power. If ...

Re: Wilkie om building for 2024
“Hunter’s stoppage work has been incredible”. I like the sound of that. It’s getting to that time where Hunts really needs to piss or get off the pot, so hopefully it’s the former. If he was to really step up in the middle and Steele was back to full fitness and form (like his 38 disposal final v GW...

Re: The X-Factor that ultimately wasn’t!
Whether this is true or not I’m obviously not sure, but apparently the drugs Ralph had to take for his epilepsy slowed him down that critical amount with his decision making and so-on. As for X, he was tracking terrifically well in his first couple of years, before the soft tissue injuries started t...

Re: Will Keeler be the real deal??
You do realise Loewe missed a lot of games in that time Burke did an ACL Winmar went to the dogs Harvey did an ACL and shoulder hardly played for a few years Everitt missed 16 games in a season Smith went to Hawthorn Lappin to Carlton Young delisted, Heatley delisted. Brown delisted, Hall traded I ...

Always thought of Kingy as a wise, wise man.
He kept raving about how Owens looked on the track last preseason and his season lived up to that.

Re: Rucking matters
I have no problem at all with what you think. I was pointing it out to you. As I said you seem to know a lot more than in previous years which is good for some on here. By the way do you still think players should be picked on their form weekly no matter how thay have gone in previous games? I reck...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
Obviously I am going to argue that there is a fair bit of difference between where we are at now. and where Sydney were in 2010. If that is so why is it that Sydney dropped all the way to 12th with a % of 90 in 2009, compared to us dropping just to 9th with a % of 120odd in 2012? In those poor trad...

Re: Window bolted shut?
Here is an interesting article on Sydney's recruiting/rebuilding strategy: ""When I joined Sydney at the end of 2006, it was very much clear from the board through (chief executive) Andrew Ireland and the coaches that no one ever felt you needed to bottom out to be successful in this compe...

Re: Rucking matters
I do realise that, hence saying in one of my posts the other day that I'm not confident that any of Webster, Shenton, Lever, Staley, etc are going to make it, but if I think someone has what it takes to make it I'll say so. If you have a problem with that, I suggest you take it up with someone who i...

Re: Rucking matters
I don't necessarily see him being that good, but I think he can be a level below that and won't be at all surprised if he plays 150+ games. He apparently has a terrific work ethic and attitude and seems to have a real dip and his leadership potential gets talked up a bit. Having excellent endurance...

Re: Rucking matters
Whoops, I was unclear... Tony is Tony74. Thanks for another comprehensive post APS. That is very impressive that our boy was able to get the better of the ruckwork against a bloke with more experience and 20-odd more kilos! 8-) How did he do that??? It can't all have been outjumping Ted Bundy...? N...

Re: Gilbo down back
Not only am I not expecting Gilbo to be playing key defence this year, I'm not even sure he will be playing all that much in the backline, as he played a lot on the wing last season and with all of Fisher, Simpkin, Gwilt, Dempster, Geary most likely "locks" down back, I pretty much expect ...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
Firstly I doubt a reporter would change their mind on a player because the club were furious because I doubt the club would even bother contacting the writer but I do know a couple of people in recruiting so I could find out if I could be bothered which I cant. Doubt is not good enough and I didn't...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
Sam landsberger had Lee as the 6th best impact of players drated last season so I doubt he thinks we did badly. Unlike most on here though he probably doesnt rate our picks any better than any other clubs so on top of losing BJ and Gram and our stars getting older he has come to the logical conclus...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
The PATHETIC 3 (to 5) years recruiting also concerns me and I also see it coming back to bite us over the next 3-5 years. Do we blame Ross Lyon for this? Do we blame John Peake, the recruiting manager who we sacked for this? Or do we blame The Board or someone else for this? No matter which way you...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
For anyone who is wondering who Sam Landsberger is, watch this video of Mason Wood and then tell us how much stock you put in his opinion of us after you see who is he is (he comes into it at the 58 sec mark). He looks like he is about 17 years old and that they've grabbed him from here or BigFooty ...

And almost APS who in this thread said we are going to be like the bulldogs last season. The article certainly doesnt say it. If you read what I said carefully you will see that I didn't say it did. My post was just responding to a comment ick made and made very little reference to the article, if ...

Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?
I've heard that as well, but in the end they came to the table and it was a done deal as far as our two clubs were concerned, by the night before the final day of trading, but it was all dependent on Essendon and Cale Hooker being that final piece of the puzzle. West Coast understandably didn't want...

Re: Don't Write Us Off
All good, let us be the underdog. Its always easier to go out there with little external pressure and expectation. Agree. There will be almost no external expectations or pressures on us this year (because that HS view is the same one that seems to be shared by almost everyone who doesn't follow us...

Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?
Fisher was never leaving the saints. It makes no sense at all unless we got some stupid high pick. GWS wouldnt want a 30 year old. There is no point at all. And Chips never wanted to leave. I heard Gilbert was the other option. Would you have done that deal? Gilbo for a top 5 pick? As I said, the l...

Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?
Considering I was told who they were in confidence and they are also still at the club, I'm not going to say who I was told it was, but it was pretty common knowledge that GWS were apparently very keen to get someone senior into their backline and to also add to their run and carry out of there and ...
