Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon
On the squad: I'm sorry to see Keeler hasn't been selected. Of all the players at the Zebras last year, I thought he was the most advanced and was hoping he'd get a lot closer during the pre-season. I wonder why Caminiti is in both squads? Perhaps he is only going to be used as a sub tomorrow in th...

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon
SEN article saying Crouch has a “knee concern” which isn’t great, as he’s been recovering from a knee injury.

Re: Match Sim 1 vs Essendon
Strong squad. Looks like Crouch may have picked up a recent injury though. Wasn’t on the track yesterday from memory from what I read. Says a fair bit about Garcia and Wilson that they’re the only new ones from the last two drafts to be picked to play the first game. Would be a great bonus if we’ve ...

Re: AFL General Discussion
Their forward line is their big weakness and now they’ve lost Smith who played there in the finals and they’ll presumably have to play Petracca almost exclusively in the midfield again, which will further weaken their scoring power. Their top-end talent in the midfield is fantastic but it’s now pape...

Re: AFL General Discussion
Angus Brayshaw has been forced into retirement as a result of the concussion he received from the Maynard bump in the final. Awful news for him and a hammer-blow for Melbourne, who seem a shambles right now.

If history is anything to go by He is clearly our second best mid Equal with Crouch imo Criminally underrated by ignorant supporters Who’s our best? Steele? I would hope that Pou, Wilson and Owens surpass him and would be disappointed if all didn’t have better careers. Obviously Sinclair is a bette...

Apparently has “calf awareness”, and hasn’t been seen on the track training or even running for a couple of weeks now.

Re: Injury update
Port hadn’t even been inside 50 by the time of the ground invasion. The way things were going we could easily have been 6 goals up by quarter time, had Port not had that chance to regroup.
The way we started that game was some of the most scintillating footy I’ve ever seen us play.

Re: Training Reports
Byrnes showed what he can do in one of those games later in the season where a number of times he received or grabbed the ball in a heavily congested situation and just took the game on by charging through the pack and coming out the other side with it. It was a real “wow if he could do that consist...

Re: Training Reports
What i do know is Hayes and probably Jones will be training away from the group. They will be my first 2 delistings at years end. Is this a new development with Jones? All reports so far indicate that he is fit, firing and killing it at training Recent reports I’ve read have said he’s being “ manag...

Re: Who will debut early?
Collard seems a huge chance and obviously Wilson is someone who sounds like he could play immediately, but the issue he could face is that he’s likely to be behind Hill, Wood, Henry and possibly Byrnes in the pecking order for a wing or HFF. Not to mention Ross and/or Jones, if we want to squeeze th...

Our good friend Kingy going in to bat for us again. Tipping we’re a club that could push into the top 4. Kano disagrees.

Here’s one from the club. Pretty exciting news re Collard. Human highlights reel who is probably a couple of good praccy matches away from taking Butler’s spot in R1. We might have ourselves a gem there. https://www.saints.com.au/news/1485801/small-forward-shines-in-match-sim-as-season-opener-prep-h...

Re: Injury update
As long as we have one of Dow or the similar Jones that will be good and an improvement on what we had for most of last season. And even if we have neither that just means Seb keeps his spot and it opens up more midfield opportunities for Owens/Windy/Pou.

Re: Saints players rated out of 100
It’s ridiculous Mattaus Phillipou is rated higher than Seb Ross. Phillipou has potential but his actual performance is nowhere near some of the senior players he was rated higher than Other examples absurd too They’re predicting he’ll have a big season, on that back of what they described as a “bum...

Re: Our midfield/wing options 2020 v 2024
We really need the youngsters to shine. Ross probably has two seasons left, Crouch three. The key is mids who can really run. The difference that Walsh makes for Carlton is enormous. Same with Neale at Brisbane, and Oliver at Melbourne. Having that kind of tank combine with speed is a real advantag...

Re: Tim Meyers Mongrel Punt St Kilda Preview
A good read so far, but a bit off factually, as he said that Hill switched “between half back and wing” last year, when in reality I don’t think he played off half back all year, and he also didn’t play very much wing. He played mostly high half-forward. The two that played the great majority of the...
