Re: Hi Saintsational......again. Its been a long time!

Did he really get paid $500K per season? Is that on the public record somewhere?

Greg Westaway to step down at the end of 2013.

Just announced on the radio. Thoughts? Has been incredibly low profile compared to Butterrs so it will be interesting to see who takes his place and how they go about it.

Re: How much do you display your Saints connection.?

Speaking of this sort of thing, apparently the official 2013 St Kilda FC calendar has a certain B Goddard on the front cover. Oops! http://www.bigfooty.com/forum/threads/s ... il.984170/

Re: Will there be an upgrade?

Yep - Tommy Lee had a 2.93 sprint time back in 2008 - which is why he can play FF. (Seriously with White and Lee - we might have two genuine gun fwds in 3 years time) Tell me about it! :D TDL did a 2.88 in 2009. I reckon Rhys takes about 40-50 to wind up. So TDL v Saad would probably the go over 50...

Re: Will there be an upgrade?

Just out of interest - can anyone rank the Saints players in order of pace at say 30-40 metres? I'd say that Saad is almost certainly the fastest over 10-20m, but once you start to get to 30-40m it could be a different story (although maybe not). Over 20m Saad recorded a 2.86sec at the combine in 2...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

I won't have any objections to CJ being in the team from R1 next year if he's flying/in really good form, but I do think he had dropped off quite a bit this year, when I had been hoping for an improved year from him. He didn't seem to be as effective in his tagging role as he had been in previous ye...

Re: Will there be an upgrade?

But just for the chance to be controversial I will say Shentonator because I like his hair and funny neck beard thing. He also is the most mature of them and could potentially play a role as he is a reload defender with some talent based on late season form. He might fight Roberton for the back-lin...

Re: Will there be an upgrade?

With Daniel Markworth going down with an ACL, who is likely to be upgraded onto the senior list? I'm really disappointed for Dan, as I had high hopes for him in the coming season. I believe he was quite capable of taking a significant step, as he seems to have some "special" qualities, in...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

Our potentially stronger forward line is one of the main reasons I'm very confident that we can be better next year. This year Kosi was able to go for weeks at a time hardly getting a touch (near the end of the season) yet he kept his spot (until it finally got so bad they had to make the call), but...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

We missed Schneider this year and I was thinking he could pick up a lot of the slack left by Goddard and Gram going, but I think it's asking quite a lot to expect a heap from Adam next year, after he played so little footy this year. We saw with Gram this year, for example (who had had injuries last...

Re: Options down back

Luke Penny comeback? If the club really is trialling Rhys there, we may not even need him to be the one playing at FB. Maybe he could be the one in the pocket, like Dustin Fletcher (who rarely plays FB these days) and his instruction would be to simply stay in the area as much as possible and impact...

Re: Options down back

Not that it matters, but if we still had him here then that would free up the likes of Simpkin to go third up and help him out, as they did in previous years. I haven't seen much of him from this year, but I did see earlier in the year that Zac was ranked 2nd in the league for 1%ers and I haven't he...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

My take on 2013 team is made up of the oldest 21 on the list. I figure the players 23 and over are on the list for a reason. They would not be there if they weren't going to play. They all have mens bodies are are ready to play. I think that is too simplistic. For starters, CJ, Blake and Kosi were ...

Re: get out the magnifying glasses- Player no's

Nice pick up with the jumper Bratty! Scoop just saw your other post. Should have stated they were official! Feel like Wright got shafted. 1st draft pick and gets 34. What a wank. Often if there isn't another high number available (and lets not forget that while Wright was taken first in the draft f...

Re: get out the magnifying glasses- Player no's

Savatage seemed very adamant recently that Hickey had no.1, TDL no.8, Lee no.9, White 18, Saunders 35, Pierce 42 and Wright and Murdoch in 30 and 34, one way around or the other. I think based on a signed jumper that he had actually seen first hand.

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

As of what we've seen so far and going by what they did this year, especially how they ended the season, which is the best guide we have so far. This is of course subject to change, based on who plays well and who plays where, in the preseason. If Stanley does play down back in the NAB Cup and does ...

Re: My best 22 & squad of 30 for round 1 2013

I think Watters might have mentioned when we got TDL that his acquisition could free up some of those who played up forward this year to play on the wing (or even for him to play there himself). I imagine Terry would be front and centre to be the main one he was thinking of with that and probably Sc...

Re: Lever...

Jackson Ferg is well ahead of Lever on the development table. He looks to be a pretty big unit now, Jacko! I suspect he is taller than the 194cm he is listed at and he looks very strong from the videos I've seen of him from the pre-season. Bloody hell it could be handy if he became better at playin...

Re: Spencer White

What is good? Saad had a very good year for a first year player but if it was his 7th year I reckon he would be rated outside our top10 so he is in the bottom half of our regular list. My point is i doubt Lee or Hickey will get inside our top 10 this year and IMO if you're not inside the top 10 you...

Re: Options down back

I guess we'll have to make do with what we've got then. The only "key defender" that we are missing from the 2009/2010 period, when our defence was so good and relatively impenetrable, is Zac Dawson. All the rest (Fisher, Gwilt, Gilbert, Blake) are still there and they have the added help ...

Re: Options down back

That is part of the reason I believe our list is in a much better state than many think. Our future forward line is looking so stacked that we are likely going to be able to afford the luxury of playing the likes of Siposs across HB, or on the wing and don't forget that Roo is hoping to play for lon...

Re: Spencer White

Given their physical attributes, and style of play, I expect that the plan would be for Spencer to play at FF and Lee to play at CHF, long term. That would clearly make the most sense to me. So far Spencer plays like Fraser Gehrig did when he was at FF for us (leading out from the goalsquare with hi...

Re: Options down back

If you have Lee at FF, Stanley at CHF, where are you playing Spencer White? If Spencer plays a single game in the seniors next year that will probably mean he's ahead of schedule (or that we have a lot of injuries up forward). He has immense talent and physical capabilities, but reportedly still ne...

Re: Watters issues ‘the challenge' to Saints

I find it funny the delusional "maybe a flag" talk spouted by some on this thread. Why not get optimistic about maybe making the finals? That would be a good achievement for next year if your glass half realistic. Maybe making the finals? You do realise that we were only 4 wins off a top ...
