Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?

i dont get this link between SOS and the saints ..... i would imagine he would have little to no interest to helping any team other than the one he is currently an employee with I made no suggestion of that final trade being any favour to us. It was going to be mutually beneficial (a "win-win&...

Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?

You make a lot of sense there APS. Are you able to be more specific about the 'trade up our sleeve'? Let me put it this way. If we had gotten Brown, we would have had all of Brown, Fisher, Gwilt, Gilbert, Simpkin, Dempster down back and that is 6 already who are around the 190cm mark or taller (or ...

That is true and that is something we've probably been regretting for a while now.

Re: Why all the buzz about Mitch Brown?

I agree that we dodged a bullet by not giving up what was rumoured to have been offered for him (although I dare say there would have been something coming along with him, like the 41 and 43 picks that we got in the Cripps trade eventually), as I am a lot happier to have White and Wright, all things...

Re: Window bolted shut?

I thought Geelong's window was shut in 2011....you never know for sure - we're like a fading successful side (without the success) Rhys Stanley, Siposs, Lee, Hickey, Saad, Milera, Simpkins etc....if they can quickly move to their potential, we could have one more shot before our big guns are over t...

Re: St Kilda pre Season -AFL . com.au

Hope so too, although I don't expect him to be anywhere near as good as some of those to have come out of Tassie. I would suggest that he must have shown a lot in the few matches he did play in 2010 to have been invited to the AIS, though, so I think it's fair to say the talent and athleticism and s...

Re: St Kilda pre Season -AFL . com.au

Does anyone know anything at all about Jimmy Webster? Played three Sandy games last year, eight for the dev squad. Is he looking OK? Did he ever? What sort of player is he? What was he drafted as? How's his training? Where does he fit in line with the rest? Seems to be the sort of guy who went in t...

Re: Rucking matters

I wouldn't be surprised if we were planning to pick Roberton at 75. We apparently only rated 45 in the draft and were never planning to use that pick (75) on anyone other than upgrading Dunell, but then Gram got the ass and it changed our plans. I haven't heard specifically who we were hoping to get...

Re: Riewoldts 2014 contract

too much repeating brianspeaking. lee has a long way to go. going from the wafl to the afl is a huge step up. lee had the best midfield by a long long long way delivering the ball to him in the wafl and probably the worst set of defenders to play the wafl in a long long long time. the eyes have bee...

Re: Spencer White Injury

Yeah we can give him all the time he is likely to need to get that healed and hopefully it does heal really well and isn't an issue for him for the rest of his career. Just a bit off topic, but when I went looking for that photo that shows his wrist wrapped up I found this photo which I hadn't seen ...

Re: St Kilda pre Season -AFL . com.au

I genuinely cannot wait to see Saunders, something just has me really looking forward to watching him develop, upgrade on Cripps IMO. Interesting that the article states Murdoch as a medium backman. Pretty sure he was a fwd playing juniors so there is Grammys replacement. Yeah, someone gave us the ...

Re: St Kilda pre Season -AFL . com.au

Plenty of promising news in there, including how well most have gone since returning from Utah. I feel that camp is going to be great for the group, not just because of the physical benefits, but also the bonding that will have gone on with everyone being away with each other for an extended period....

Re: Spencer White Injury

Yeah he had an operation on it around draft time. The club kept it very hush hush I think, but Sam Lansberger mentioned it on the HS online site on the night of the draft (said that some clubs were surprised he was taken as early as he was because of concerns about it), but it was quickly removed fr...

Re: Window bolted shut?

I wasn't necessarily suggesting that they would "do it for Lenny", but more that the whole group will know that there is every chance that this is the last year they will all have together, with Lenny, Milney, Kosi, etc and that if they want to really achieve something together that this c...

Re: Kosi The Enigma

Ah the "kosi phenomenon" Being concussed adds five years to your age. You do realise that he had a fractured skull, causing him to miss almost a full season of footy, followed by repeated concussions and fainting and so on, followed by repeated injuries, don't you? Are you telling me that...

Re: Window bolted shut?

Well you'd think it's going to be Lenny's last crack at it and, with him being something of a spiritual leader, no doubt there's plenty of motivation. He's never been one to say "can't". I attach great importance to a good start to the season. Set the standard early and anything can happe...

Re: Wilkes is our best short-term option for full-back

Was watching the replay of our game against GWS on Foxtel tonight and Mick Malthouse made an interesting comment that you "don't really draft key defenders, you usually draft key forwards who end up playing in defence", or words to that effect.

Re: Rucking matters

He may indeed be very good. In about 6 years. Him still being available when our last pick came around apparently changed our plans for that pick, as we were expecting him to be well gone by that point. It seems he ticks an awful lot of boxes, but just needs to get his body in order, after 3 injury ...

Re: Window bolted shut?

No such thing as a premiership window, and the best team is not always the premier, hence we have as good a chance as anyone else next year. Go Sainters. The Premiership window is the most overused concept in footy. If you're good enough and you have some luck, you can win it. Agree. Sydney have ke...

Re: Wilkes is our best short-term option for full-back

Beau looked about 100x better and more comfortable in the forward line than he did in the backline this year and I think the forward line is where he ought to stay. He looked good at FF and showed that he could also get ball leading up the wings and beyond, which shows he's got more than one string ...

Re: Window bolted shut?

Lenny, coming off a knee reco and heart issues, our oldest player and still wins our B&F. This can not happen if we are to improve. Yes it can. The likes of Lenny are damn good, much better than the bottom 6 or 12 in our best 22, for instance and that isn't going to change in a hurry. Lenny cou...

Re: Window bolted shut?

Lots of good points so far. As I've sated a few times in the past few weeks, I believe there are numerous reasons why we could improve on what we did this year. Lots and lots of them. I dare say losing BJ and Gram (and to a lesser extent Cripps) won't help, nor will the fact that several of our best...

Re: Operation Gws

I would prefer us to keep our draft picks next season. So if we could get someone like say Tyson, who would fit our needs pretty much perfectly, for a pick like say, 8, even though he was good enough to be drafted at 3 in the first place, who would most likely be ready to make a significant contrib...

Re: Operation Gws

Probably the only way GWS will dominate the top end of the draft next year is if they lose a couple off their current list who are extremely highly rated, like Patton, Tyson, or Hoskin-Elliott. Otherwise they will most likely just have the one high pick, because they don't have any more of the conce...
