Re: Player academy at work?

Just wondering if there's been any advance on the Academy Director, which according to the Saints website is still vacant.

Does anyone know if they still plan to fill the position, or have any news regarding this?

For those of us that don't know much about Staley; what type of player is he and what in particular did you love about him yesterday?
Also, how fast is Dunell, who does he compare to?

Re: Who gets McQualter?

Starting a thread to belittle a player who tried hard for us but just wasn't up to it - then trying to justify it by claiming he "missed tackles" etc. is pretty poor. But it obviously gives you a boost.

Why don't you go back to pulling wings off flies and bullying small children.

Re: Game Thread vs Port Adelaide

As someone following the game from overseas on a crap internet connection I would really appreciate it if all comments also included a score update, e.g "You're useless (insert name) - 6.6.36 to 2.2.14 "
Thanks Pakenham saint!

Re: Total Rethink.......

My thinking is Roo at Center Half Back. He has a huge tank, is a great mark (and can spoil) and is generally a good field kick running forward. This would take a lot of pressure off him (suddenly no 3 opponents), and give us some height and rebound from defence - he would run off many CHF's. He star...

In what sense ?
In the sense that after one game he seems to have become the new anointed one on Saintsational.
(And I hope he's as good as he sounds, but let's not put too many expectations on him.)

Re: Cult Heros

For me, a cult hero is a player who is an okay but not a great player, and one who gets a game occasionally and has a touch of the bizarre or unusual. I was always a fan of Milan Faletic, Robbie Muir, and Doug Booth. (Muir was potentially a very good player, but certainly at times bizarre.) Rex Hunt...

Re: Beaten to the punch

So we send our players to India, one third of them get sick (say goodbye fitness) and we get a few newspaper articles (if we are lucky) if there is a connection to cricket. I think we would be mad to come here....(I am currently in India).

You didn't live through the 80's? I'm more optimistic about next year than the years of nothing in the 80's I agree, standing in the rain watching us lose every week, not to mention "flock of seagulls" and "divine". The 80's were tough. I think the boys will go well this year.

I think you are missing the point. If you prefer ruckman, fair enough. You said "we took mid-fielders (of dubious quality)". That is a direct quote. I just asked you to back up what you said, and you waffled back at me about rookies being speculative - as are all draft picks. You went fro...

Baker refused to share the bread with Demetriou so he was suspended.

From this point on, Baker was toast.

In psychology, economics, and decision theory,
"loss aversion refers to people's tendency to strongly prefer avoiding losses to acquiring gains. Some studies suggest that losses are twice as powerful, psychologically, as gains." - Loss aversion wiki

This thread seems to exemplify that.

With the upcoming rookie selections I think we may go for a couple of big body/older types.

Magner and Marigliani would seem to fit this description, and by all reports they have been putting in hard at training.

Can someone who's seen them play give me a summary of the pros/cons of these two?
