Gaetner didnt play and as mentioned Raph is the emergency for the Saints today. Leigh Fisher played well and had some good composure in the backline, the style suited him as he had that experienced mind to deal with some of the plays. I thought Walsh was lucky to be in the top 6 but he did take a pa...

JUst back from the game... Bendigo overall a bit quicker around the packs but an entertaining game. Here's a report on some Saint players Steven - played midfield and was in the thick of the action. His disposal at times wasnt perfect but tried very hard and did some great clearance work. Stanley - ...

Cahill rolled his left ankle just before half time - was on crutches as precaution. stood next to him at 3/4 time huddle - apparently it is just a roll, however he did have ankle problems last year. Luckily it wasnt the problem one from last year, the right.

Stats without Reiwoldt

Its been 4 weeks that Roo has been out so I've had a look at how we are looking in terms of stats without him. In terms of scoring, we are 15th in the AFL In terms of goals per inside 50 or 'strike rate' we are 16th In terms of scoring shots per inside 50, we are ranked 15th In terms of general play...

I left at 25 min mark final quarter. Would usually stay until the end but applied the following rules; - the 200km drive home meant 12.30am arrival and work the next day - it was a Monday night - didnt want to hear the Carlscum anymore - I had fully assessed the game by that time! Benefits of waitin...

Puts pressure back on the Dogs.... Saints defence is still ranked 1st and points against is similar as of last year - a great effort. But watching games you see a lot higher level of team defence than before, all players pushing back into back half and say 15 in the back 50. Harder to get goals from...

Against Port, our top 5 clearance players had 15 clearances in total against an average of 18.2 for the season.

Of the 15, Montagna had 7 clearances.

My stance is still that we require stronger clearance work to get first ball use and better forward entries. We'll see how we stack up this week!

We just need to get hands on the ball first ! We are 13th in the AFL for clearances and putting a lot of pressure on ourselves to defend in games when we should be in attack. The way the games are going, we bog down the defence and then often stutter into attack, waiting for the troupes to go forwar...

The Port Adelaide "shimmy" highlighted by Rodan's BOG performance. In the past I have always considered our midfield talented but somewhat slow and very much prone to teams with good midfield pace that can change direction quickly and exploit the zone that way. Players that spring to mind ...

Freo...good spread, thought their counter attack was first class with plenty of wide runners in support. They werent afraid to go the corridor. Defensively they seemed to put pressure on and often forced us wide around the boundary. The say in 2010 the game is going the way of full court zone. Its t...

I am still coming to terms with McFlee's "mark" on the boundary in the final quarter. If that was 'controlled' and if any umpire can be firm that was a mark, then that umpire is a wasted resource....the little league plays at half time and I doubt anyone at that time would have paid such a...

Some great in and under work no doubt, probably the most consistent effort we've seen. Tackling ! Have people picked the Queensland rugby shoulder charge? Gilbo tends to do the flying tackle but Armo really drives through the shoulder. The more games the better - just a matter of finding his feet at...

His kicking set-up looks to be the key down back. Has good poise and if he gets a chance to settle, usually finds a target. Had efficiency over 80% Friday night?

Also has a right foot too so not 1 dimensional like Gilbo.

If he can hold half back, a lot of upside to send BJ or Chips forward.

Can only tackle if the other side has plenty of footy and that wasn't the case. The last quarter looked like circle work which still may be too generous on the Kangas. If Goddard was on a Footy Card he'd be "Utility" - play him everywhere. Ability to sink the pill from outside 50 - BJ, Joe...

It seemed that the game plan may have been tinkered somewhat - even though it was classified as a "traditional" plan it looked biased towards "play on at all costs". Saints were really backing their skills and run through the middle which was one reason that seemed to make the fo...
