Re: 2015 - Draft & Trade Thread
The club needs to speak to Carlisle and ask if he's committed or not, and be informed that he's damaged negotiations in preference to his old club rather than his new. He needs to come out and say "I Only want to play for the Saints" and if he's not willing to do that, then we walk away. ...

Jason Heatley and Rod Keogh both had a big impact when they were at their peak for us too.
Heater is still the best dead eye kick I've ever seen in the red white and black.

Re: Jack Lonie
What an absolute steal of a pick Jack has been. We talk about getting games into the kids to fast-track their development, but Jack seems to improve at 2-3 times the normal rate of most young players each time he plays - he looks like he's been playing at the top level for far longer than he has.......

Re: I'm torn...
A win is as good for a young team's overall development and confidence than any dubious benefit gained by being one or two places higher up in the draft.
Not torn at all - I want us to win every time the boys go out there...and as supporters, that's how it should be for all of us.

Re: comparisons between the dogs and the saints
Don't forget that the Dogs started their re-build two years before us (with some father/son picks thrown in). Let's see what our playing list looks like in two years. There seem to be some assumptions that we're doing everything wrong at the moment, but I would strongly disagree. We only did 2 thin...

Lots more run out of defence up the wing today, Webster made a big difference. Lonie, Sinclair, Billings, Dunstan all good smart footballers…. Lots of speed as well…. Bruce is very good…. Membrey coming on, remember has played less than 10 games….. I was underwhelmed by Webster, he looked rusty sti...

Re: SainterK its time to return
I would like to congratulate SainterK on being one of few and certainly the first to pick Geary as captain of our club. Well done. You deserve a pat on the back. I am embarrassed that a player struggling to kick the football is now captaining my club. What a role model because he runs time-trials a...

Re: poor recruiting?
my only regret is letting BJ and Dal go...i think we could have kept them and still brought in talent. they wouldnt have stopped us bringing in our top 10 picks, (only2) and the rest of our young guns arent even that high a pick. trading out club champions and 'marquee' saints still doesnt sit well...

Re: Buckle up - 2 more years of getting our pants pulled do
I think the match day coaching performances will need to improve significantly this year if they want members to turn up in droves. Friday night was a good night in terms of Sainters support, and to turn up and see nothing after quarter time was awful. This Collingwood side is a team in decline, an...

Re: Buckle up - 2 more years of getting our pants pulled do
I went tonight. The players had a crack, whilst the umpires were on crack. We were cooked half way through the second term. But Armo and Steven stood tall like real leaders. Impressive. And whilst Paddy is clearly not there yet, he found a few touches near the end and he didn't once drop his head. ...

Re: LED lighting/Free WiFi/TV screens/Food discussion
Enjoyed the Saints theme advertising boards, the music was fine, and the youngsters hosting the big screen were no worse than James Sherry and his annoying blond mate. More importantly, it was encouraging to see the club / the AFL making some kind of effort. In this world of entertainment where the...

If the argument was fair and balanced, then fair enough, but once again...preposterous rules the day.
It's always the same - trade out our best players or playing 7 games in NZ...blah blah blah...

Re: Jack Steven contract
I'm really surprised that some on this thread don't appear to rate Jack that highly. He's not just an outside speedster, he turns contests our way in tight. He gets stuck in. With a run of fitness he would be a top midfielder at any club imo. There is still a question over how good his delivery is ...

Yep, that's the Footscray game you're thinking of. And that Fitzroy game at the Junction Oval had one of the most amazing third quarters of all time. Goals after goals. The two Sidebottom brothers were handpassing to each other at one stage and they were playing for opposing clubs. Max Crow played ...

Re: A Little More Draft Analysis
Whether we lose Jack or not, there's no rush to get an expensive FA in yet. We'll be crap for a few more years so use the early draft picks over the next few years on the best mids (especially if we get pick 2 for Jack) then chase an FA when we're closer to contending. I completely agree DV. Keep d...
