I think the Adelaide players on average had significantly more lower body strength .. you just have to look at the size of a half a dozen or so of their players legs and hips.
It means they held their ground and pushed through better than we did in the wet.
It was a factor.

3 goals wins would be enough, ... no-one is expecting a rate of knot improvement. And expecting a year by year development (vs a stagnation) of our young players is not an unreasonable expectation.

David King had us improving this year based on our finish last year and the assumption that our youngsters were going to improve/develop further ... but it hasn't eventuated.

Are we going to blame all our youngsters for that?

Owens, Phillipou, Windhager, King have stagnated and/or gone backwards. Do a footywire comparison of these players- their stats this year vs their stats last year, and you'll see that what I'm saying and what Cornes is pointing out ... that is in fact true. It's not just Max King, though ... our young players stagnating and not developing, that's our main problem.

We have no system ... we don't link up, we're not playing/gelling like a team.

We're locked into a negative, reactive mindset and low scoring game style.

Port has their deficiencies outside of their midfield.

We are stronger in other areas.

We only need 1 or 2 more topline midfielders to move past them.

Swap midfields (and coaches or adopt a more attacking game plan) and we win by 10 goals.

He should be tried in defence.
He's not a natural forward ... that's why he's trying to play in the style of a big-bodied, one-grab forward, which he's clearly not.

His stats were actually better last year ... Phillips was averaging close to 19 possessions and 200 metres gained. But his handball to kick ratio, even though it was better last year, it was still weighted more towards handballs. It doesn't sound like a player who takes the game on? Anyway, 19 posse...
