Re: Dal Santo to North Melbourne

I think it is crazy to even consider trading Dal Santo. With all the kids we have already plus new draftees coming, we need some experience to guide them. He is also our best player at disposal, and can help set up play from the half-back line. Go after any free agents but keep Dal and let him retir...

If he is being recognized on newspaper and tv voting how come he hasn't had a rising star nomination?

Re: Why is Dal the trade focus and not Joey?

I think it is ridiculous to trade either of these players. Dal is playing very well and from half-back can set up play with his disposal and Joey is in career best form. We have a lot of kids coming through and hopefully 2 or 3 more with the draft - surely some experience is needed to help them deve...

Re: Standalone VFL sides - Footscray join in

This is beginning to look like the old VFL reserves that everyone thought we should get rid of. Maybe we could plat the VFL games as curtain raisers!

Re: looking for old 1990 game

I thought I may be able to help, but on checking it appears I have nearly every win since 1991. I remember the game and I was there. Lockett was playing his first game for the year after being injured pre season. He was only half fit and still kicked a lazy 10! In those days only the top matches of ...

No not yet. Wait until he has more injuries and even worse form. He isnt what we need. he is slow and get a lot of injuries. And dont ever understand he followed us stuff. Luckily that isnt how sides are picked or we wouldnt have Lenny or Rooy but we would have Hurley. Also Jude Bolton and Rory Slo...

I mean do the deal before the free agency window opens on Oct 1 and give him the 4 years and at that point there is no offer we have to match.

Re: BJ offered $1.9m over three years

Running players that kick long and dispose of the ball accurately are gold compared with what you may get in 2 or 3 years time with a dratf pick. Essendon and Freo seem to see the value in a player like Goddard. From what I have heard Scott Waters really wants to keep him -maybe it's the football m...

Re: BJ offered $1.9m over three years

I don't know why we don't offer the 4th year, as it could be subject to a medical at the end of ther 3rd year. We have a huge advantage over the other clubs prepared to offer Goddard big dollars, in that he will be eligible for veteren status and only half his contract will be against the cap. this ...

Re: Suck on that AFL and your FIXture!!!!!

I find it annoying that Collingwood and Essendon and probably the new love child Richmond, don't have the maximum 6 day breaks (10) and 6 interstate trips every year. If that match last night had been at Etihad with Adelaide on a 6 day break (and 4 of the last 5 rounds) I think we may have had a dif...

We have another 6 day break to go to Adelaide and they are comong off a bye. I think some of the inclusions were done against GC to leave some fresh players for this week. So you think Cripps will come back in? i doubt it. I think the only changes will be Fisher and Geary if both are fit. Dont reck...

Maybe i'm old fashioned but how does someone walk out of a contract where he has 2 years remaining.
This leaves the club in the lurch to finf another midfield assistant when most have been snapped up by now.
at Collingwood he will be just one of lots -there's nearly as many coaches as players!

Sydney offered a lot more than rookie money.
Also whilst a rookie only 50% went in the cap.-so it probably went from $25,000 to $100,00+ per year against the cap.
The club had apparently been trying to sign him since mid-year, and I would guess Sydney has been in his ear for quite a while.

Did we really want another Luke Ball deal where we get nothing.
If the guy does not want to play for us pick 35 is better than nothing.
We may end up with a good young player -many very good players have gone for pick 35 and higher.

We didn't have the room in the salary cap to match the Sydney offer.
The only way this could have been done is if some of the senior players took a pay cut.

The fact that Sydey wanted him caused us to value him higher than his performances warranted. Sure he may be good in the future, but except for the game where he kicked 6 goals was not beating down the door to be promoted to the seniors. When you compare him to what Fev did in the VFL in the late se...
