He might have started his career well and competed well, but Jono Brown was in his team's best 3 or 4 last night, simple as that. Brown is one of the best in the league, and maybe given that N Brown had a good game, but if your team's expectations were to nullify him out of the best players, he fail...

I just don't get the fuss about Charlie Gardiner. He did some reasonable things during the NAB Cup, deserved his place in Gehrig's absence, but then did absolutely nothing on Saturday night to press his claims for a permanent spot in the top 22. Anyone who would suggest he did enough to warrant bei...

A bit stiff, but the right call for mine, not one I thought they would make though.... I think Fizz had a better game last week, and I agree with others on this thread, CJ needs to keep working hard at the level below so when he steps up to the big time, he accumulates 15+ possies a game to become c...

Gehrig was never going to play last week and was not injured.
Why was G never going to play then?

How can you drop CJ after his effort in the forward line? What does that send to the players? Lyon has highlighted it a number of times, has to play...whether his form warrants it or not. Fiora for Goddard - spare parts player on the night Gehrig for C Gardiner - 3rd tall. So Jones gets a go becaus...

All very well and good, but how do you explain the 1 point loss the following year... Two years of heavy injuries for other teams and unprecedented luck? Exactly. What happened last year when Hall wasn't 100% and Kennelly didn't come up? And there's me thinking the Cats had the easiest run ever wit...

When there are a lot of behinds scored, the ball doesn't return to the centre often. This means that there are a lot of kick-outs from respective backlines. This leads to zoning and teams able to push numbers back very easily. Hence the crap game we saw. Had we kicked 12-13 goals from our 21 shots,...

Why would we drop Gram when he nearly made AA last year and was best on ground in a GF two weeks ago? Raph or Gi...

Re: How does Raph keep getting a game?

The longer his career goes on, the worse he seems to get. He was horrible on Saturday night. His indecision, turnovers and lack of pace absolutely killed us in the backline. To me, it looks like teams are starting to exploit his lack of pace by using his man as the link man or putting him in the 50...

If all C. Gardiner is going to is take a mark every now and then, send him to the 2's and put in another midfielder for some more run. I didn't think he was very impressive at all, so when Gehrig comes back he's going to have no use. Gehrig plays deep forward; Charlie plays between the arcs. Charli...

Who is the opponent that beat Gilbert.....not sure Heath Grundy had a major impact.....and he beat O'Loughlin whilst he stood him...so I am not sure he struggled as a key back, HOWEVER, he is struggling with the footy with his confidence and decision making, which means he would be a liability upfi...

He is the most polished player we have by a long way.

Gram, Gilbert and Fiora showed us why Raph is in this team... he can spoil. He gets to contests and puts his fist on the ball even when he's out of position... the other 3 were woeful at this all night. he made a few bad disposals did Raph but he is a quality defender, I think he needs to play furt...

Raph was good tonight for mine.
He was our second best defender behind Max (I know Sam plays down back but doesn't do much 1 on 1 defending.
Raph just needs to get some urgency in his disposal and he will be the real deal, he certainly is not soft, neither Clarke is....

Re: Aftermatch thread

I accept that watching it on telly I was at a disadvantage, but geez we were lucky to scrape home. I'm still not convinced that Lyon has the on-field structure right. Dal seemed to play most of the game down back, and Joey spent a lot of time down there as well. Gilbert and Gram didn't figure enoug...

Have to agree on this. Can see Kosi, Bakes, Lenny, G, and yes Gardiner and even Armo...but Goose may have some mongrel in him, but the '05 incident with Hall really does eliminate any fear others may have.... We miss Powell and obviously Hamill IMO. Maybe Hayes can become the Powell of 04/05 and Arm...
