There is an official votes thread for round 9 going elsewhere. It's called "votes round 9". I don't actually know where it is! But you can get to it via the Saintsational Medal sticky.

1 Harvey (loved watching him almost as much as I hated watching the game.) 2 Hayes (awesome for some of the time) 3 Ball (I concede he probably missed targets, but he did get the ball) 4 Jones (kicking not too bad, surprisingly. Endeavour excellent) 5 dal Santo (admittedly a deeply flawed game, but ...

Didn't think all that much of him as a fringe player at St Kilda. (Wore No 16 from memory) Callaghan seemed like a very good deal at the time. Probably Carr contributed a lot more to Freo than Calla did to us.

Agree with all those finals losses mentioned. Especially '71 and '97. In an obvious, different way, though, the worst I ever saw was in 1978 (?) v Collingwood at Victoria Park. We lost by something like 31 goals to 3. The worst thing was that I arrived late by train 10 minutes into the first quarter...

I want to see BOTH teams in their tradiional jumpers. Collingwood is black and white stripes and I want to BEAT black and white stripes, not some not some new artificial marketing concoction. That certainly describes our palid white basketball singlet. I want to see the Saints in the powerful, basic...

I've always had second favourites (usually around finals time when you needed someone to follow) but it changes year to year. Occasionally it's been a top team that's playing awesome footy that just makes you proud of the game. Usually its a team that's been down who's playing spirited football on t...

Thanks so much for providing the link -- wouldn't know how to find it myself. Fraze looked the best of the bunch, and I now see why his game was considered sufficient for his return this week. No one else showed much. Raph OK here and there, but still the master of the limp handball. Ferguson, who I...

Can I digress a touch and make a list of the 10 gutsiest players? The blokes who didnt perhaps have natural skills or flair (tho many of this list did) but would never ever hesitate if it was their "turn to go" (In no particular order..limited to blokes Ive seen play) Trevor Barker Max Hu...

I thought the umpiring was pretty good too. I'd be happy with that standard. The other post is mainly picking on individual decisions. The umpires are always going to make some wrong calls. I heard that 87% correct was considered a good benchmark. They've got to make their calls instantaneously. I'm...

I'm agreeing with arOK and otiman -- traditional colours, both ours and the opposition's, are absolutely core values. Water them down and the magic dissipates. I wouldn't mind a convenient swap -- like last night would have looked more distinct with StK in white shorts and Ess in black -- but I want...

Re: West block of Clarke v Baker on Farmer

Interesting note on this subject is the suggestion discussed "On the Couch" for the player who makes contact occasioning the removal of a player from the game to also be benched for the duration that the injured player is off the field. A form of the ARL and soccer send-off rule that woul...

Did anyone see the incident in the third quarter with play on the outer wing and I think it was Gilbert running 10 metres behind Gamble on the other wing.
