Re: Milney- final season?

Hi guys, Just wondering where you get your stats from? From watching the games, it does appear that Saad does get a lot of goal assists, and he is involved in a lot of contests and chains of play where we score. However, is there actual stats to back this up? I notice that the AFL website only lists...

Re: guess this weeks ins and outs

IN: McEvoy, Fisher
OUT: Saad (eye), Clarke (unlucky)

Not that Clarke had a bad game, but I would prefer to give Newnes some more experience in a big game.

If Saad is okay to play, well.. I'm not sure who to drop.

Tough match commitee this week.

Re: Round 11 Team v G Coast

I'm a big fan of Armitage based on his hardness at the ball. Players like Armitage and Hayes, who show extreme courage and never flinch, are benchmarks for the team. They lift their team mates around them due to these courageous acts. Other players who fit this bill are Geary and CJ. Recent past pla...

Re: Round 11 Team v G Coast

My guess is that Schneider will be a late replacement for Cripps.

I also reckon (and hope) that Saad will have a night out and kick 5 big ones against the GC kids!! :)
Love his blistering pace.

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

saintspremiers, statistics can be misleading as we know with the Ablett V Dale Thomas scenario last week. A player can have only 10 possessions yet have a huge impact on the game, whilst a players can have 50 possessions and not have a meaningful influence. Healthy debate is good btw, no need for an...

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

Also, I'd like to see Seb Ross make his debut. Watters gave him big wraps pre-season with likening him to Pendlebury, so I'd like to blood as many of these kids with potential as we can, and be prepared for some short term pain whilst looking towards the future.

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

In : Geary, Schneider

Out : Cripps (injured), Gram (omitted)

Sub: Schneider
Unlucky: Raph Clarke
Newnes will be a gun and will play out the rest of the year in the 1's so that they can pump as much experience into him as possible.

Re: Should Saad have played from Round 1?

I've been super impressed with Saad. He brings so much energy, but more importantly he is bringing effort and he doesn't stop trying. Love the set shout routine which doesn't leave anything to chance. His set shot from 50 against the Tiges did not deviate at all, it just sailed straight over the Ump...

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

I like Gilbert, I just feel that his disposal is below par and perhaps he needs a spell in the VFL to release some of the pressure on his shoulders and to lower the expectation on him. We definitely need Gilbert in the side when he is at his best because I love how he breaks the lines. Polo for Gear...

Does anyone else think the heat and outdoor factor affected the players? Some of the guys looked down on energy.

He would be the second person I'd pick in my team every week, only behind Lenny. Wish we had more tough nuts like him.

Re: Possible changes for Sydney

I see that as a problem with Blake though at this point in time. You could say he is a jack of all trades and master of none. I'm not questioning his commitment and contribution towards to the S.t.Kilda footy club. He has brought an outstanding effort for a long time. However if I were coach, I woul...

Re: Possible changes for Sydney

This is what I would like to see: IN: Daniel ARCHER (promoted from rookie list), James GWILT, Raph CLARKE OUT: Rhys STANLEY (injured), Jason BLAKE (omitted), Beau WILKES (omitted) - Archer and Kosi to swap between ruck and full forward for the whole game. Archer is good at crashing packs, which will...

Re: Tom Simpkin

when I first saw him debut I think he played in the forward line (?) and my initial reaction was that he was too slow and made some silly decisions, and I remember thinking that he won't make it as an AFL player. but he proved me wrong big time. loved his game last night. particularly the aggression...

Re: Saad

I thought he did quite well for his first game of AFL, considering his soccer background and the fact that he is still raw and learning the game of footy which he took up at 15 years of age. There is only upside IMO. Positives: - Extremely quick and added real pressure, aswell as perceived pressure ...

Re: Guess this weeks ins and outs

IN: Gwilt, Siposs, Koschitzke, Saad. OUT: Blake, Polo, McEvoy, Cripps. Wilkes to remain in forward line with Kosi/Stanley to ruck. McEvoy to have a week off. Siposs and Gwilt were way too classy for the VFL. Gwilt to replace Blake. Siposs to play on the wing. I would like to see Milney push into the...

I class Stanley as a runner at this point in his career. And I would rather Armitage with fresh legs despite his lack of pace. After all we're here to play footy, not athletics. I understand everybody wanting to stick up for Peake, and I don't want to be seen as attacking our own player. But he did ...

ARMITAGE

Armitage....Is he injured? Iv'e always rated him. Was he training with the main group in the week leading up to the GF last week? This bloke has what it takes to be a big game player, similar to Goddard. He appears to have that confidence and a bit of arrogance about him, which you need in GF's. Gre...

Hi everyone, I didn't watch the games last week, but everybody here seems to be judging Eddy on his low possession count. He is known for his large tank so I assume he played a midfield run-with type role. Has anyone considered that he may have played a shut-down role on the opposition and perhaps d...

ARMITAGE

I just get the feeling that the worse the weather forecast is for Saturday (i.e. rain, hail, wind), the more of a chance Armitage is to replace Eddy. Think back to all his games this year. - Plenty of tackles - Contested ball - Can kick goals too - Has a good disposal by foot. Yes, perhaps he does l...

Round 14: Saints vs Cats

Interesting to look at the stats for the round 14 game, in what resembled a Grand Final by the way it was played. It was a tough finals like type contest. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/sport/afl/match?matchid=1111112047410 Things to note: Players who stood up: - Hayes - Dal Santo - Gardiner Players wh...
