It has concerned me that Ross hasn't seemed willing to play Roo at CHB. Up forward his decision-making frequently lets him down and his leads are often poor. That's why Roo is considered in the top 10 players in the AFL (if not top 5). Can you imagine how good he would be if his leads weren't poor ...

And what, when Goose finally comes back? What about when Goose finally comes back? He has done nothing yet to earn a spot at CHB. Had one year where he showed lots of promise then took two steps backwards the following year. He is a great clubman and I hope for our sake he succeeds but you need to ...

It has concerned me that Ross hasn't seemed willing to play Roo at CHB. Up forward his decision-making frequently lets him down and his leads are often poor. I'm not saying never play him up forward and I wouldn't expect us to change things around this week against the Bulldogs who have height probl...

How does the withdrawal of two first 18 players make Roos job harder......losing Gehrig and Blake are more of a headache for Ross IMO. The context of this comment was that Rossy knew all along that the two boys would not play. I agree though that clearly it would cause problems for us if plans chan...

I thought Fiora did reasonably well last night. A better game than any of the pre-season matches. Just wish he would kick a goal. I can't remember the last time he goaled for us.

Agree guys about the kicking for goal. How many seasons has this been a problem for us? Time after time we make the running, particularly early, then blow it by not being able to impose scoreboard pressure. The positive is that it is only round one and most, if not all, teams, struggle to kick goals...

I really hope Aaron takes this opportunity. The naming of Blake may have simply been a tactical move as Roos would have expected Blake to go onto Goodes. But Goodes has had a huge pre-season so perhaps we might see Rossy pull a surprise. Rossy may have even known that Fraser wouldn't play. The namin...

Very interesting Ace. Disagree about Judd though. Personally I doubt that he would have left a Melbourne club had Hawthorn or the Saints drafted him. Came back to his home state after paying plenty of dues in the West. He is a footy romantic if I've ever seen one.

Re: Blake and Gehrig out of the team

WTF? Well L. Fisher was told before the reserves match that he would be playing so I expect one out. Hopefully only one and expect it would be Fraser as they wouldn't want to play him if he needs another week. Just annoyed that Fiora is in the emergencies as he can't be trusted not to turn over the...

It warmed my heart to read that article. He is in a really good place with his footy and motivated in a really positive way. He also said that he finds himself watching the clock willing time to go faster before a training session - just like he did as a kid.

L.Fisher definitely but I hope Birss gets a run instead of Fiora. I think they might move Sam Gilbert to the forward line for Fisher.

sunsaint, twotowers and others, Keep in mind that this is still the afl.com.au offshoot and not the new standalone site that the club has been promising. That would be http://www.saintscentral.com.au Of course, it's just sitting there with a coming soon placeholder, and has been for some time now. ...

Even with broadband its pretty tragic. Thought, obviously mistakenly, that we were something similar to westofmoorabbin.com. What a missed opportunity.

There is absolutely no affordable accomodation anywhere so you will have to know someone to stay with (or come straight back).

Ross Lyon has been right on the money so far with who will play over the next few weeks so I won't be at all surprised to see Goddard play. Its really nice that he has slipped so far under the radar that people don't think we would play him in a practice match final. The game will still have the ext...

If I was pickinga team now I would have Geary in fronto of both L Fisher and Raph fora backman's slot...and Bakers suspension may well see him selected. I reckon that Geary is a lock for round 1 at the moment, and definitely has looked more impressive than both L.Fisher and R.Clarke. I'm not too su...

Leigh was one of the few who played nearly the entire match. I thought he performed his usual reliable job. I'm not sure I agree that he has stagnated - I just think he doesn't have any more improvement in him. So he will now probably be one of those not guaranteed a start in the best 22.

Have you heard about the current controversy over Paul Roos telling players not to kick goals and the Swans taking lots of time getting interchanged players back on the ground? The Swans were the absolute long-shots with the bookies to win the NAB Cup as they have never ever won a NAB Cup match. I i...

Talking about captains Armo said in interview after kicking winning goal that Ball told him it was just like training, go in and take his kick, he's practiced it!! Wasn't it great to see Armo talking like that. He also said he totally focussed on the ball going through the goals, just like it does ...

On the original post - I do think Geary and Armo have shown plenty and would love to see them get a run but I expect Ross will utilise the depth, and the competition that creates, to pick the best team each week on merit. I don't think there will be anything other than merit and team balance involve...

Blake struggling? Give us a break!! His one arguable mistake last night gets picked out. But was it a mistake? From what I saw he would have been pinged had he rolled over the line.

He will be one of the first named every week, mark my words.

Was Rix that bad? From the Age match report I quote 'acting skipper Scott Lucas well held by Michael Rix'. I believe Fiora is making too many mistakes but the coach will know what to do. He does not deserve the flogging he gets. It is satisfying though that after years of hearing Jason Blake get rid...

Harves has also been looking after his body the last couple of seasons. He has learnt how to pace himself as, of course, he needs to do now. Perhaps he is being even more cautious in that regard in his final season. He will want to ensure he is primed for the last few real games - not the first few ...

Yeah I noticed that as well, I thought how good is this... the saints won and we are seeing the bomber highlights first. To be honest, after hearing this morning we are now clear 2nd favorites for the flag at 9 bucks, I would be quiet happy to sit under the radar. But that is going to be a little h...
