And I don't want Seaby. Prefer Gardiner/Kosi/Brooks/Blake ruck division.

Obviously you trade quality for quality, we have to look at players who can be replaced with as good as, or better replacements.

Milne
L. Fisher
R. Clarke
Ferguson
Watts
Brooks
S. Fisher

Edit: Removed S. Fisher.

Looks like we get the same picks as last year, if my calculations are correct.

Pick 1 - Carlton PP
Pick 18 - Richmond PP
Pick 19 - Carlton PP

So, my shopping list.

Pick 9
Pick 27
Pick 43

Rookie Pick 8
PSD Pick 8

He NEEDS a lot of one-on-one tuition. He is not up to it at VFL level this year (granted he has not had a pre-season, but it's now round 22).

Saints need to bring in a forward line coach who can develop Fergus and get some new forward structures in place.

I think that Watts' VFL form shows that he isn't up to it.

My idea is to play Brooks and Kosi as our Ruck duo, rotating through Ruck and FF. If (when) Gardiner is right, Kosi can stay as a permanent FF, and the second ruck spot can be fought out between Rix, Brooks and Van Rheenen.

If Wall has the closing speed of a Max Hudgton (few if any do) then we should definitely persist with him. If the majority of his spoils are body-on-body contact with VFL level forwards, and he can't put any more muscle on - get rid of him. The days of Gorilla forwards are over, so the need for a mu...

Whatever the case, we should run the 10-15km time trials after this break, and before and after the xmas break. Keep players on their toes over their break.

I logged on today to post a thread re: Fev, then saw this thread and came to post the same.

IF we can fit him in the salary cap, and IF we can get him for a decent price (probably draft picks + a okay player) then we should go for him.

However, don't trade Goddard for Fevola.

Gram is a wingman/flanker. I don't think he has the body or poise for the in-close stuff.

MSG was right.

Clintion Jones, useless.

If he's not gone after that effort, i'll be disappointed.

Stands back and is more of a spectator than a player. Is not as quick as people make out, and is easily knocked off his feet.

You cannot enhance your core successfully by trading with other clubs. You can improve your fringe and depth, but any players capable of becoming core members (1st tier midfielders + key forwards/backs) you won't get for any less than a 1st round pick.

Agreed on most points. I wrote off 2007 as a transition year, and once I saw the gameplan we tried to play I knew that our only chance was stringing some good form together at the end of the year, scraping in the finals and doing some damage. Realistically, I'm not terribly disappointed with this se...

Re: Four improvements next season

Midfield - Get a HUGE preseason into Armitage, get into McQualter's head and get him firing on all cylinders. Recruit another gun mid first rounder. (Key Defender with second round). Lenny will be 100% again, and guys like L. Fisher and perhaps Gilbert will be groomed for their onball role rather th...

The #4

#4 has been one of the most decorated numbers in our club, it is a huge deal to me where it goes next, and I believe that Thommo has the right to choose. However, if you were in his boots, who would you pass the legendary #4 on to? It's a tough one, because guys like Roo and Dal Santo have already m...

Victory (A-L) Storm (NRL) Dragons (NBL) Rebels (ARC [Rugby Union]) Plenty of quality sporting clubs in this town to throw your support behind this summer. Life doesn't begin and end with AFL. I'll be looking out for draft kids, pre-season training, and injury recovery for the saints too. Couldn't gi...
