Re: Training Reports
What i do know is Hayes and probably Jones will be training away from the group. They will be my first 2 delistings at years end. Is this a new development with Jones? All reports so far indicate that he is fit, firing and killing it at training Recent reports I’ve read have said he’s being “ manag...

Re: Arie Schoenmaker’s club punishment
I think that this is clearly a corrective/disciplinary measure. We've had plenty of draftees whose fitness wasn't up to scratch and the club has never issued a statement saying that they've been sent to train with the VFL team to bridge professional standards. You're being somewhat delusional if you...

Re: Riley Bonner picked up by Saints in pre-season draft
Seems like physicality and defensive work were the issues. Makes sense that he'd excel in the low pressure environment of pre season training. Definitely has skills and run

Re: Round 1 - Cats vs Saints
Round one team selection is going to be fascinating. Caminiti vs Sharman? Does Seb get a gig? Wilson? Howard vs Cordy? Can Paton force his way back now that his injury is well behind him? Do Webster and Stocker hold their spots? Where does Windy play? Does Pou have to truly earn his spot this season...

Re: Howe do we grab an extra FRDP for next year?
I think we should just hold onto our natural draft picks to ensure we're still bringing in a steady stream of young talent and go after FA's who cost nothing but cap space.

Re: Au Revoir Chris Toce
Don't feel great about this one. Seems like our recruiting is at the best it's been for a very long time with him in charge. He's been around in varying capacities since 2015 but he has been promoted quite often and that has coincided with our recruitment getting better and better. He must either be...

Re: Developing our forward line for a tilt at the premiership...
At this point all we can do is guess. We have a plethora of young forwards who will reach different levels of development over the coming years but we have no idea who will make it and who won't. King is a lock when fit, though will he stay fit? And will he continue on his current path of being a 50...

Nope. Elite half back who can have a run through the middle when a spark is needed but I don't think he should be a full time mid.

Re: Crystal ball Rnd 1 2024
Rather than trying to guess the team, this is the lineup that I want to see. B: Wilkie, Howard, Stocker HB: NWM, Battle, Sinclair C: Hill, Steele, Wood HF: Higgins, Sharman, Owens F: Butler, King, Membrey Foll: Marshall, Crouch, Windhager Int: Dow, Phillipou, Clark, Henry Sub: Hayes We really lack a...

Glad to hear. He's durable, cheap, and a perfectly competent backup option. Much better than McKernan/Hunter/Rowe who we've had recently filling the same depth role.

Re: Tom Highmore delisted
Gotta feel for him - the only thing that will prevent him from playing 100 AFL games is his tendency to make a couple of shocking unforced errors with the footy each game. Not sure why we waited so long to delist him. Would've been better for his chances to get to another list if we let him go earli...

Higgins, Butler, Owens, Phillipou and Hotton seem like the ones who can play a similar role. Wouldn't surprise me to see Steele and Crouch play some extra minutes up forward as well.

We got zero return for a player who is best 22 when fit. I'd be okay with it if we shipped him out to clear space for a big signing but that didn't happen. I'm not thrilled with this decision

The Sheil deal was only pallapable IF Bombers gave OVERS for Gresham thusly pumping up our compo...they did not want to do that after ALREADY dojng exactly this for North. So keep Sheil's high salary, bung body and suck it. They did pay overs for Gresh didn't they? Reported as 700k a year. I reckon...

Re: Dow in Coffield out
I think Dow competes with Jones for a spot if both are fit. Both know how to win the footy and can burst from the stoppage but have scrappy disposal and consistency issues. I'm very ambivalent about this trade. Would've liked to see Coffield push Webster out of the 22 next season but Dow pushing Jo...

Re: Gresham
So Gresham asked to be trade to the Bombers without knowing the offer? Is Gresham’s manager an incompetent f***wit? It would appear Essendon would like to think so. Meaning we went cold on Shiel when they asked for too much. They don't need Jade but they would like to get Shiel off the books. I'm w...

If we're not getting band 1 then we should match and convince him to stay. Essendon won't be trading us anything of value, and if they're not paying that much they clearly don't value Gresh very highly

Re: Keep Coffield
Coff was the natural Webster replacement moving forward. Shame he couldn't get on the park this season because his ceiling is higher than Webster's and I'd prefer him in that role from here on out given his intercept and rebound skills are better. I'd keep a dialogue open with his management about w...

Well yes good that he got a Brownlow Vote, but for this game cannot fathom how he was at all worthy of a vote.
Did the Umps get him and Owens mixed up, as Owens was one of the better Saints that game, whereas Mattaes was not?

I've never understood why the Brownlow holds any prestige. Umps should also just be there to enforce the rules, not decide which players are best.

Re: Dylan Shiel
I don't hate it. If we're effectively taking on Shiel to upgrade our Gresham compo from second round to first round then let's do it. Would have to be a token late pick traded to Essendon and I imagine Shiel would want another couple of years on his contract which is fine if he's prepared to halve h...
