I was all for picking up Hartigan many years ago when he was young, unsigned and killing it in the state leagues. At 30 years old? Nah

Re: A BIG Game Required from Tom Hickey Tonight

I suspect Longer could have been a pretty good player if he was committed. Never seemed like he was prepared to put the work in to become anything more than a hitout specialist, and he wasn't even one of the best at that. Hickey was always far more talented and I preferred him throughout their time ...

Re: The Age says Clarko would like Ben Long at Norf

Long is a butcher by foot still. He's a liablity at times on the ground with stupid mistakes. I don't think his skills are too bad, it's his inability to stay involved in the game that prevents him from being a best 22 player. He looked like he had finally turned a corner early 2020 but then droppe...

Re: The Age says Clarko would like Ben Long at Norf

If Long is after a big pay raise then I wouldn't be upset if we let him go. He had a great game in the final round but that was very much an anomaly. I'm happy to keep him on the list as cheap depth but I don't think he's a best 22 player in a finals team.

Re: Jack Newnes delisted by Blues...

Interesting delisting. I'm guessing they realise that his average performance is going to be slightly ahead of kids vying for the same spot in the team and by getting him off the list it removes temptation for the coaches to play someone who isn't going to improve over a kid with upside. It was quit...

Re: Michito

I think he'll keep mixing it up between forward and midfield for the next season or two while he builds his fitness and game sense. Then probably in his 3rd/4th year he could transition into being a mid who pinch hits forward.

Re: Joyce delisted

Perhaps a little harsh. Joyce was inexplicably given games back when he was nowhere near ready and then this year when he was clearly much better he barely got a look in. With that said, he never quite seemed completely up to the level. It wouldn't have surprised me if he found his feet with an exte...

Making good progress in games played each season as well. In his three seasons he's played 18, 20 and 22 games. So next year he'll play 24 which means we win a final and the following year he'll play 26 which guarantees us a spot in the granny.

Re: What a Kent

Absolutely terrible recruit for St Kilda. He played maybe 3 good games during his time with us. With that said, seems like a good guy and I'm fine with him getting to play his 100th as the sub in a dead rubber. I like to see the club treating players as humans and not just resources. It's a travesty...

Re: Just announced on Channel 7 - Hannebery to retire

Reflecting on this a little more it seems like it may have been a decision made by the club moreso than Dan. Why retire after going off to Germany for treatment from a specialist and then actually stringing a few games together? Maybe it was just a last ditch effort to be fit for finals since we see...

Re: Just announced on Channel 7 - Hannebery to retire

Well that makes the decision easier then. If he played this week and picked up 25+ classy touches I would've been tempted to give him a one year contract on base pay with higher than normal match payments. Overall his recruitment was an absolute disaster and it's a shame that his career never got go...

Re: Changes round 23

Wouldn't bother playing any of the guys with niggles, bar Hanners since he's playing to extend his career. Wouldn't mind seeing Jones play at half forward and hunt the Sydney defence with Long. After his successful cameo in the ruck I'd like to see if Owens could play that pinch hitting role again a...

I'd be pushing Hannebery to play. If he can get through 3 out of the final 4 games of the season then you could make a case for giving him one more year on low base pay with higher match payments.

Allison should go but I believe he has 2 more years to run. Move to rookie list Geary already retired Kent is gone Hannebery might end up being given another year if the medical staff thinks he could turn things around. Probably playing for his career in the final game of the season Campbell deserve...

My guess is he'll end up playing against the Swans, pick up 25 touches in a losing team and get himself another year. Before spending 90% of next year on the sidelines. Like every season.

Report card before the bye: A- After the bye: F Season in total: D- I think we're seeing history repeat with Richo/Ratten's re-signing. There was no need to do it and now we're stuck with a coach who doesn't seem up to it but has a contract for two more seasons. The killer being that the greatest co...

Hill put together some solid form earlier this season but there's no question that the trade is a bust. His output has not come close to matching his price.

I would. NWM definitely has ability but I'm not convinced that he's going to end up being a gun. Super outside, not a big accumulator and at this stage he seems to turn the footy over more often than not.

Paton & Battle whilst reasonable picks do not fit the criteria IMO when compared with Wilkie, Marshall, Sinclair, Membrey etc.
I can see Paton and Battle being mainstays in our B&F top 10 for many years to come. Excellent value for picks 39 and 46

Jack Sinclair - Pick 1 in rookie draft. If we had have taken him at Pick 3 in the National Draft and Billings at Pick 1 in the Rookie Draft we'd all be stoked that we got an absolute gun with pick 3 and then a handy flanker with a rookie pick. Joey Montagna - Pick 37 Also great value Josh Battle - P...
