Re: 2014 List Management - Draft & Trade Discussion
What is the status of Jack Steven? Is he still a free agent next year? If so do we look at trading him now rather than risk losing him next year as a free agent? Free agency is a huge risk to clubs now and any player who doesn't extend contract early must be considered a risk. If we lose Jack next ...

We're in the same situation Wal, its an absolute disgrace.
We've been in our seats since 2006, know all the fellow Saints around us & now its a free for all.
I'll be contacting the club tomorrow

Re: Nakia Cockatoo
A mate who works at NT Footy told me a month or so ago to keep an eye out for Nakia.
Apparently he was injured for a fair bit of this season & my mate reckons he's be pushing top 20 if he'd had a full year.

yep.....but i fear the pelican might have other ideas.... we have lost high draft picks for not much under his watch already...... I don't buy this 'Pelchen loves to trade down for multiple picks' theory. He did it during the tainted drafts when our pick position wasn't a true reflection of where i...

Re: Ross Lyon after today
Lots of re-writing history going on here just to suit a dislike of someone. I hate Lyon for leaving us when he did & in the circumstances that he did HOWEVER he is a brilliant coach that IMO has been let down 3 times by players wilting under the pressure of finals footy. We were not dour & b...

We were where Hawks. & Sydney now are in. 2009 & 10 and no one came knocking !!Seaford doesn't help ,very little media coverage. , sponsers etc , will be a big change once we get to the Junction! We couldn't afford to take any big names then. Part of the reason we lost BJ at the end of 2012...

Re: Saints to trade with the swines?
If it's the same footage that I've seen going around, I'd take it with a grain of salt. The game at Geelong was played in terribly gusting & swirling conditions that made hitting a target pot luck. Petracca doesn't have the footskills of a Jack Billings but he has the ball winning, speed past or...

Re: signing #7 Acres to 2018
It's a 3 year extension to his existing deal for 2015. Injury wise he has suffered from a number of different injuries, so he's not a kid with a chronic problem (like O'Rourke's hammy's). He copped a shoulder last year then had some soft tissue probs this year (which is not uncommon for a kid doing ...

McKenzie is nowhere near McCartin. He's kicked bags against weak opposition & wasn't tested against the best of his peers (like Paddy was).
McK could go anywhere from the 2nd round on.

Also, I think the initial "scoop" has fallen flat on its arse. When the info came out about pick #1 to GWS for two players and #3 BS was nowhere to be seen. Patton's injury may have a bit to do with it.... & before people go off canning Brian, the trade period is a month away & an...

Re: Number 1 pick
No I wouldn't do those trades.
Keep pick one & trade for another top 15 pick. I have no doubt that we will be moving players on in order to get more picks.
Unless something extraordinary is offered, pick 1 should be kept & should be used on Petracca.

His opponent got goal side a few times & he got burnt.
The bigger issue was the poor midfield running when the ball was turned over.

welcome home 8-) Thanks Mate. Who the hell is Fitzgerald at number 4 pick in 98 ???? Ryan. the guy on BB and the radio and the recruit. Really !!?? Well that was a waste of a top 5 pick.......... In Fryzie's defence he did his knee a few times & retired well before his time should have been up....

Would love to see treloar in siants colours...contracted till next year but worth a high pick trade. He wants to come home so half the battle done. Jeremy Cameron MUST and SHOULD be out target. How do you know he wants to come home? he has suggested many times he wants to stay. Just like BJ, Buddy,...

A vey good post.
Continuing to add talented kids over the next 3-4 years will see a very well balanced side (experience wise) by the time we hit 2018.
Development & injury management will be the key.

I think Gilly has mentioned that he was offered a very poor contract by St K management on the back of 2 brilliant seasons.
He didn't want to leave but was offered big $ by the Bears & his wife preferred QLD to Melb.
Still loves the Saints & we love him!

Totally agree Tony. Take yourself back to the last time we were in a similar situation. GT had a game plan that eventually worked (to a point) but just didn't have the cattle to carry it out. He eventually tried to limit the damage by going ultra defensive (the infamous draw vs Swans when Daniel Wul...
